Without the internet or the ability to Google any piece of information desired, 1980s Motley Crue fans had to ‘make due’ with the printed page to learn all about our Rock N Roll heroes.

Motley Crue was a band who’s illustrious history made them a trivia hound’s dream. Their biography involves a rich cast of characters & enough drama & tragedy for five bands. Add to this the fact that the group is comprised of four distinct personalities, all with their own histories & dramas, & you have a veritable cottage industry or Motley community.

Any Crue fan worth their salt knew that Mick Mars’ real name was Bob Deal, Tom Werman produced Shout At the Devil, the Nasty Habits were Emi Canyn & Donna McDaniel & Tommy was born in Greece.

There are roughly 120 questions presented here throughout the 5-6 quizzes. Of course many of the same questions are asked but give it a try, see if you know your Crue shit. This last one from the early ‘90s warns casual fans to beware: only true Crueheads need take this baby, it’s a hard one.

The strange story of Motley Crue’s decade of decadence to continue at the Sleaze Patrol Files . . .

Rocktoons! Metal Wars! Hit Parader!

I can’t remember when this was published but I just learned from Wikipedia that it was a recurring panel in Hit Parader drawn & written by Rik Emmett of Triumph fame!

The boys are garbed in their Theater Of Pain clothes but something tells me this came out around the Girls, Girls, Girls era. Nice & short & pretty darn funny, good job Rik. Definitely a higher quality comic than the dreadful ‘Revolutionary Comics’ that came out years later.

The Sleaze Patrol At Work

In the end, Motley Crue is essentially a gang of sleazebags. Here are some shots from the battlefield.

The Motleys Take A Bow

‘Take A bow ye pirates of sleaze! Your raping & pillaging ceased, bow before the hungry throngs who lap at your feet & cry for more!’

‘The Theatre Of Pain draws to a close, the fires subside & the bodies lay scattered amongst the ruins & carnage.’

The Sleaze Patrol Files offers up a video compilation of the band taking their bows before their rabid fans from 1984 to 1991.

The best example of the Motley exit would have to be the one director Wayne Isham filmed at the end of the ‘Home Sweet Home’ video. The band genuflects before their audience (we are watching them from behind) & each band member doubles back to exit backstage & signals a final good-bye to the camera. Nice stuff. [The official 1985-6 video is currently hard to find online. Here’s the best I could do for now but I’ll try to upload or link an HQ version]
